Under The Patronage of President of Egypt, Abd El-Fattah El Sisi, Egypt Hosts WRC-19 in Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh on October 25, 2019

Under the Patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sharm El-Sheikh will host the World Radiocommunication Conference for 2019 (WRC-19) that is considered one of the most significant international events held by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) organized and hosted by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), during the period from 28 October to 22 November 2019. This esteemd event will be held for the first time in 20 years outside ITU headquarters in Geneva. It is expected that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi particiates in the official inaugurationof the conference on 28 October 2019.

It should be noted that more than 3,500 participants from 140 countries, and more than 50 ministers and vice-ministers from all over the world and representtives of around 50 international telecom companies and organizations will participate in the conference.

Dr. Amr Talaat, the minister of communications and information technology, has inspected the main conference hall in Sharm El-Sheikh, scheduled to host the Conference to review all the preparations made by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the NTRA and Telecom Egypt (TE) in cooperation with South Sinai governorate to host this global and prominent event to occur in the most dazzling manner that befits Egypt's pioneering rank and its regional and worldwide leadership in the ICT world.

It is worth mentioning that the WRC) is one of ITU’s conferences, where the governments participating therein review and examine the Radio Regulations, that is, the international treaty regulating and governing the usage of radio frequency spectrum. Egypt will chair this year’s Conference as it is the host country.

Moreover, Sharm El Sheikh has hosted the meetings of the Radiocommunication Assembly (RA) held in the period from 21 to 25 October and is scheduled to host the first preparatory meeting for the upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-20) on 25 and 26 November. These two great events are equally significant as they are closely related to the first event. The hosting of these two major events of the ITU by Sharm El-Sheikh under the patronage of the President of Egypt.
